Over the past few months, the cryptocurrency market has displayed a consistently positive or bullish trend, contrasting with the NFT market, which has not shown significant movement. Only a few creators with established curators seem to maintain robust sales, while the majority of creators appear to struggle in the market. Navigating this market requires creators to be savvy, especially in terms of survival and financial equilibrium, allowing them to continue their artistic endeavors. Additionally, they must actively engage in art-related activities to maintain consistency. I’ve observed that some Indonesian artists are transitioning to manual or traditional art, showcasing their work in physical spaces..
One ongoing project involves preparing creative spaces for children in my local community, as mentioned in my previous blog. Simultaneously, I am working on several traditional or manual art pieces, a practice I’ve consistently maintained since before the advent of NFTs. This time, I’m developing works with a unified theme and substantial dimensions, with the hope of potentially having a solo exhibition in a gallery in the future.
As of the creation of this blog, five pieces have already been completed, utilizing various mediums. These works and drawing styles continue themes from my previous NFT and digital pieces, exploring unconventional forms in the realm of pop surrealism with highly personal colors. Moreover, these pieces seem to transport the viewer’s imagination to an undefined, almost submerged realm. This allows appreciators to contextualize their understanding based on their individual perspectives.
Plans for the upcoming year involve a consistent effort to build connections with galleries and exhibition spaces. This aims to create opportunities for showcasing artworks, allowing them to be appreciated directly by art enthusiasts in physical settings. My last exhibition was during the pandemic in Central Java, Yogyakarta, a collaborative showcase with artists from across Indonesia. Hopefully, the aspiration for another exhibition will soon come to fruition.
